What they said:

Your Festival

"It is your festival and we are opening one of the country's edifices .. It is the festival of this generation who will enlighten all the nation's energy in building and development to overwhelm Sudan with education"

Students’ National Fund Secretary-General, Prof. Mohammad Abdallah Al-Nagarabi

Our Protection
"The Fund provided this campus with what we don't have in our houses. Despite the fact that we are in need of the sponsorship, yet the campus came for our good better than the sponsorship because it provides us with protection,"
Wijdan Hoba Omar – Student in Rufaida University campus.

A New Model
"This is a new model of building university campuses and will be repeated in other campuses in the future as it avails more ventilation and good sanitation,"
Engineer Mohammed El-Amin El-Tahir, Fund's General Secretariat Projects Director.

Prof. Nagarabi: Students in these towns contribute to the building of a vast country

The Secretary General of the Students' Welfare Fund, Prof. Mohammed Abdallah Al Nagarabi affirmed that the Fund will continue building university towns in accordance with the policies of the Ministry of Higher Education calling for the localization of education in the states. "Rufeida University town is one of education edifices in the state contributed to the students by the Fund", Al Nagarabi said. He further stated that with erecting this town, the Fund has made appreciable contribution to the University of Sennar, adding that now accommodation has become available. He expected that Sudan will have a new generation that will contribute to building a strong nation.

On his part, the Governor of Sennar State said that the newly built university town has safeguarded 60% of their daughters. According to Engineer Mohammad al-Amin Attajit, Projects Manager at the General Centre of the Fund, the new town has the area of 11,000 square meters, provided with a well with the capacity of 700 gallons per hour, in addition to reading room, sport fields, a cafeteria and a mosque. He added that the town can admit up to 500 students.

During the inauguration of a new Students’ Campus for Girls in Sinja,
the Sennar State Governor said: The Students' National Fund brought the shelter to our daughters.

In Rufaida University Campus, the female students affirm the great improvement in housing.

Students' Welfare Fund has embarked on putting its goals into practice, in accordance with a plan set for that end, by the Ministry of Higher Education on supporting the students and playing an educational role, which will help upgrade the students' behavior as an endeavor to stabilize them through providing accommodation, sponsorships, and health insurance, as well as other services which provide stable academic atmosphere.
University accommodation constitutes a central pillar for the work of students' welfare fund that is why Rufeida University Town was opened in Sennar, the capital of Sennar State (Sinja) last Tuesday. Al-Watan Attulabbi was present on the occasion and asked the students about the significance of such a town.

"This town has lifted a huge burden off the students," said Enass Ana'iem Mohammad, physics and mathematics student, the University of Sennar. She pointed out that the rooms where the students live in are comfortable, adding that the administration of the fund is now working on providing health insurance without any a go-between party as some are claiming. As regards other difficulties, she said students have had drinking water difficulties, but now the situation has changed as a new well has been drilled.

Big improvement

Ruwaida Bashir Man al-Hajj, studying English and geography, said there has been a remarkable improvement compared during her first arrival. She noted that she used to live in high school which was being used as boarding house, but was drained later. She hinted that the university has good qualities and free of noise compared to the past. Students are in intimate relations with one another to the degree that such relations extend to include their family members most of the times.

Good state of cleanliness

Wijdan Omar, studying geography and history, from Sennar, maintained that living in Rufaida accommodation is a privilege. Replying to a question about accusations saying that the state of cleanliness at the accommodation is not tended to, she said that is untrue, arguing that the inmates are sharing the cleaning of their rooms everyday while female cleaners are in charge of cleaning the coolers regularly. "Thank God the university is now in a good state of cleanliness," she remarked. Wijdan further lamented that she applied for financial support but her application did not get approved; however, she expressed her appreciation for services rendered so far. She affirmed that 300 chairs have recently been supplied for a lecture room, which she described as the first of its kind in recent times.

Complaints about food

Huwaida Saad, from Kijeik area, Sennar locality, described the university town as comfortable with all difficulties having been removed. However she complained about food served at the university cafeteria. She said that the food is incompatible with the remarkable health and other services rendered by the students' fund. Huwaida further affirmed that the university does not go through electricity cuts except in general emergency cases.

In Rufaida Ceremony

Whispers for Publication
Sennar State Governor, Engineer Ahmed Abbas whispered during his tour inside the campus that the dry clean services in the campus were not even a dream.
States' official in the Fund said that the campuses are required to be the candles in the way of the nation's development.
Mawada, a student said that Sudanese eve is full of innovation and just needs sponsorship.
One of the students praised those unknown soldiers who were behind this campus.

Students Innovation in the Ceremony

Thowaiba – Afrah – Inas .. Innovators looking for sponsorship

As usual, the campuses opening ceremonies have witnessed the appearance of several innovations amongst the students in the field of broadcasting, plays, songs, poetry and folklore dances.
Rufaida campus ceremony witnessed the discovery of several talents in all the above fields as we found Rowaida as a distinguished poet.
Thowaiba performed several famous Sudnaese songs with a very nice voice.

All these are but a translation to what Al-Nagarani keeps saying that the Funds moved from the buildings towards the meanings.
